Dr Michael Lim is an internationally renowned Interventional cardiologist with extensive experience in computerized tomography (CT) imaging of the heart and is also one of the pioneers of using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of heart arteries in place of invasive tests. He was among the pioneer group of doctors who formed the Cardiac department in Singapore National University Hospital when it was first established in 1989. he was the first cardiologist in Singapore to be sent for a fellowship in interventional radiology/cardiology in USA. He was also a pioneer in carotid artery stenting. Having performed Asia’s first in 1995, Dr Lim also devotes his time into research. In Singapore, he is the largest user of the newest generation stents to open blocked arteries, providing better and safer outcomes for patients. He is also well known in the region for doing highly complex stenting cases in favor of open heart surgery with excellent results. Dr Michael Lim was among 10 Chinese Physicians and the only Singaporean who was bestowed this accolade – FOK YING TUNG PRIZE THE WORLD MOST OUTSTANDING CHINESE DOCTOR AWARD 2018.
